AI-Powered Divination APP

This project aims to design an innovative interactive APP experience that allows users to explore and engage with traditional Chinese culture, blending the intrigue of divination with ancient literature. It combines engaging features with AI API integration to create a fun, immersive, and connected user experience.

Introduction

Tools Applied

To develop the AI-powered Divination App, I conducted an in-depth study of ancient I-Ching literature to seamlessly integrate its content with the app's logic flow. Prior to development, I analyzed existing products to identify key strengths and opportunities. I independently initiated the project and enhanced its features through over five iterative updates with Figma and JavaScript on WeChat DevTools.

Primary Index

Author Instruction

To make the app useful for even those who just got interested in I-Ching, I developed the Author Instruction with General Introduction, Update Contents, and Relevant Images.

Diary Record

In each I-Ching card, users can write thoughts in the form of diary to be recorded, which they can jump back to view in the future.

Card Content BindTaps

The main purpose of homepage (Primary Index) is to allow users to navigate all 64 I-Ching symbols quickly, and I have created those contents with BindTaps for simple click transition.

Fast Checking Index

For Advanced Users Browsing

The page function was actually built based on a user's suggestion, as advanced users want to navigate more information quickly.

Check "Cuo", "Zhong", "Bian" Symbols

Users can view the Three Changing Symbols for the 64 I-Ching Symbols, because there are hundreds of changes on these cards, I built a Utils JS File to conclude the function making sure users won't go to wrong pages.

Draw-Card Divination

Gamified Divination

Unlike Tarot, the Draw-Card Approach is not a serious or standard way of doing I-Ching Divination, but I developed the function for entry level users to have a fun experience first.

I-Ching Words Reading

After draw a card, users can read from the card information to predict whether a future looks like… I created all card contents design.

Ongoing AI Chatbot Integration

I am currently embedding DeepSeek API Integration with the APP to provide AI Reading and Explaining functions, and also creating the interface with HTML and CSS.

Algorithmic Divination

Four Traditional Algorithms

This interface provides four standard ways of doing I-Ching Divination based on simple algorithms that only uses "add, subtract, multiply, and divide"--Books suggest the approach was from Song Dynasty.

Play, Read, Record

There are 64 cards giving more than 300 answers based on users input, and I designed the pages in a sense of gamifying experience, but the UX/UI can be continuously enhanced in the future.

I-Ching Compass

5 Elements, 8 Symbols, and 22 Eras

I designed the I-Ching Compass function to offer diverse symbols that help users navigate the boundaries of divination and refine their insights before or after receiving results. This feature also enhances the user experience by introducing a gamified element to the app.

Elements Study & Design

In order to build the I-Ching APP independently, I studied heavily on surrounding knowledge on I-Ching ancient literature and divination concepts, figuring out logics between all 64 I-Ching Symbols. Subsequently, I designed 64 Icons and Card Modules representing the necessary knowledge to be used in the APP.
